Vintage Black Leather Cab 415 Settee by Mario Bellini for Cassina

An exceptional early example of the iconic “CAB 415” settee designed by legendary Italian architect and furniture designer Mario Bellini for Cassina. Introduced in the late 1970s, the CAB series became one of Bellini’s most celebrated creations and remains a landmark in postmodern Italian furniture design. Inspired by the craftsmanship of saddlery, the design features a thick saddle leather hide fitted over a rigid steel skeletal frame, much like a finely tailored leather jacket.

This early model showcases beautifully aged black saddle leather that has developed a rich, natural patina over decades of use, a character that only genuine high-quality leather can achieve with time. The sculptural silhouette, softly curved backrest, and wrapped leather legs create a striking balance between minimalism and warmth, making the piece feel both architectural and inviting.

Mario Bellini is regarded as one of Italy’s most influential modern designers, with works held in the permanent collections of institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
